Managing global payroll is rarely a tidy experience. Approvals sometimes get put off until it is too late; new hires often resume in the middle of the month, and employees in different parts of the world require special considerations for getting paid.
This year, we have worked extensively with Bloccpay beta testers to consistently improve our platform to support founders, HR leads, and payroll managers paying teams across multiple locations with a simpler, more straightforward system of paying salary.
Over the past few weeks, we have shipped a few updates — some small, and some that are designed to save you serious time — all focused on one point: making payroll easier for you and the people you pay.
In this article, we breakdown the latest product updates on Bloccpay, including:
- Running an approved payroll straight from payroll history
- Funding on one network and paying across several
- Easily downloadable business records
- Payslips and receipts your talents can download
- More fiat currencies available: UGX, KES, TZS and NGN
- Setting a trading name on your business account dashboard
- Uploading identity documents as PDFs
1 – Run an approved payroll straight from payroll history
To ensure your team gets their salary on time, we have implemented a feature update that allows you to run an approved payroll directly from your payroll history.
Why does this matter?
After all said and done, two things stand out the most to a talent: the quality of the work they did and whether they were paid on time.
With this update, we are helping founders and business leaders take one more thing off the list of reasons why a payment could slip or be delayed.
2 – Fund on one network, pay across several
On Bloccpay, we support Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Base, Solana, and Tron. These networks are helpful for your talents because they can pick whichever network suits them for getting paid.
But it used to be a bit harder for founders and payroll managers to handle situations where talents wanted to get paid in different networks.
Now, with auto-swap, you can fund your wallet in one network and pay your team across several networks, depending on their choice, in the same payroll run.
Why does this matter?
Your team no longer needs to adjust to using the same treasury setup to get paid, and you no longer need to have to move money around before every payday.
3 – Download your business records
Paying your team is half the job. The other half is tracking clear records of what you paid, to whom it was paid, and for what.
On Bloccpay, you can now download the following records to support proper accounting for your business:
- Payroll registers
- Invoice receipts
- Transaction history
Imagine having your entire payroll record easily accessible from one dashboard. Next, imagine if the accountant sends an email asking for a detailed breakdown of everything you paid out in the last few months.
With Bloccpay, you can easily download the records and share with them instead of piecing things together from screenshots and chat threads.
You can also attach supporting PDFs to invoices, such as a signed contract or a project brief.
Why does this matter?
Having good records not only saves you time at the end of the month. It also helps protect you and your business and ensures your books are in the black.
4 – Payslips and receipts, in your talents' hands
Records don't matter just on the business side of things. For your team, records matter as well. By onboarding your team on Bloccpay, you give them access to the records that support their pay.
Our latest update ensures that talents can also download their payslips and payment receipts. This way, if they ever need to show a proof of income, they can easily access the records.
Why does this matter?
For a business, this means fewer "can you send me my payslip?" messages. For a talent, it means proof of the income they've earned, available when they need it. Whether a landlord, bank, or embassy accepts it is up to them, but your talents will have something solid to show.
5 – Withdraw straight to a local bank
For many talents on Bloccpay, getting paid in USDC or USDT is more useful if you can spend locally.
Now, talents on Bloccpay can withdraw directly to their bank accounts in one of these four currencies:
- UGX (Ugandan shillings)
- KES (Kenyan shillings)
- TZS (Tanzanian shillings)
- NGN (Nigerian Naira)
In the coming months, we will be introducing more currencies, and we would love to get your thoughts on which ones to introduce next. Tell us here: hello@bloccpay.com.
Why it matters
Professionals from across the world may work and earn globally, but they mostly still spend locally. We believe teams should be able to access their income in currencies that are locally relevant to them.
Is your team in a country that isn't on this list? Tell us where. It helps us decide which currencies to add next.
6 – Set a trading name
For many businesses, the name on the registration and the one the team recognizes are different. Now, you can set a DBA (Doing Business As) on your account that is different from the business' legal name.
The DBA doesn't affect the legal identity of your verification record, only what is shown on your dashboard.
Why it matters
With small details like this, you can make your payroll feel less like a form and more like a part of a business your team is familiar with. Your business keeps it's legal identity, and you choose what your team sees the business as.
7 – Upload identity documents as PDFs
On Bloccpay, the verification step is compulsory for everyone. So, it's a process that every of our users go through.
We have implemented a slight improvement to make it easier for you to upload your identity documents as PDFs, giving you more control over how you share data with us.
What's coming next
In the next few weeks, we'd be rolling out the following new features:
USD virtual accounts. We are introducing named IBANs that you can use to directly fund your wallet with fiat USD. If your company currently holds dollars in a bank account, this update will enable you directly fund your Bloccpay wallet from it.
Pay talent direct to bank or mobile money. Soon you'll be able to pay your team directly to their local bank or mobile money accounts, the same way you can already pay external crypto wallets. This means you can run one payroll and each member of your team gets their money wherever they wish to receive it.
Earn. We are working to let you earn interest on the idle funds you hold in your Bloccpay wallet.
More on and off-ramp options. We will be introducing more countries and currencies for moving money in and out of your Bloccpay wallet. Let us know if there's one you'd like us to add — hello@bloccpay.com
